day for the YEP program is from 10:00am until 2:00pm. The breakdown of the day is shown below.

Duhr Prayer
Since school starts at 10:00am sharp students are expected to arrive and be in their classrooms no later than 9:45am.
Note that students who are repeatedly late will be referred to Director for follow-up with parents/guardians and will be subject to the tardy policy.
Attendance
Teachers will take attendance of students at the beginning of each class.
• Students who are tardy 3 or more times will be referred to the Administration for follow-up with parents/guardians.
• Students who are absent 3 consecutive days are automatically dropped, and their spot in the class will be made available to the next student on the waiting list. Students automatically dropped from the roster, must re-register, and will be added to the end of the waiting list for his/her respective class.
• Students who are absent 3 times throughout the year: Their parents will be contacted as a first warning that student has missed 15% of the school year and are in jeopardy of being dropped.
• Students who are absent 5 times throughout the year will be reviewed and dropped from the roster. Students automatically dropped from the roster, must re-register, and will be added to the end of the waiting list for his/her respective class.
Discipline Policy
(1) NOISE LEVEL: Must be kept to a minimum. “One person speaking at a time” policy must be in effect all the times. All students must have the opportunity to participate in classroom discussions
(2) BOOKS & STUDY MATERIALS: Students must bring all books and study materials with them to class. It is the responsibility of the students and their parents/guardians to be careful with their books & study materials so they are usable during the course of the year, insha’Allah. Even if there are no textbooks assigned, students are required to bring a notebook and a pencil to class.
(3) PROPERTY: The safety and security of school property in the classroom is the responsibility of the teachers and student alike. Teachers must maintain discipline and order in the classroom to protect school property.
(4) HOMEWORK: Any homework assigned must be followed up for completion and accuracy by the parents and teachers. Parents/guardians may be informed if students fail to turn in homework assignments. Parents/guardians are expected to cooperate in this effort.
Expectations:
(1) ADHERENCE TO CURRICULUM: Teachers must ensure that class activities are always in accordance with the curriculum for the assigned grade. Teachers will ensure lesson plans are prepared in advance and classes progress at a predetermined pace. Teachers may conduct their own self-evaluations to track progress and compliance with curriculum objectives. The YEP Administration reserves the right to evaluate the progress of students independently from the Teacher. (Special Note to Teachers: There will be absolutely NO SLANDERING of other Muslims, scholars, and students of knowledge, regardless of how much one may disagree with their opinions. For further clarification, please see Imam Mohamed Magid, Director of the ADAMS Center.)
(2) CIVILITY: In an effort to encourage the practice of the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, the Administration expects that all conversion among students and between teacher and students be civil. It is also expected that the classroom environment will encourage children to acquire skills in politeness, respect and courtesy. Parents/guardians are encouraged to assist the school in this effort. Use of any language that is considered rude or disrespectful will not be tolerated.
(3) LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: YEP Saturday School must be a safe and secure learning environment. Students should feel that they are respected and their opinions heard. They should be treated with fairness, equality and kindness by both teachers and staff. Teachers however also reserve the right to be firm in order to maintain discipline in their classroom.
(4) VISITORS IN THE CLASS ROOM: Parents/Guardian who wish to volunteer their services in the classroom should contact the Parent Liaison (See the Administrative Section for contact info). After arrangements have been made with the Office Staff they may attend classes to monitor progress, help in teaching the curriculum and other special purposes. These roles will be discussed with the individual parent based on the needs in the classroom and the skills the parent brings with him/her.
Discipline Policy During Lunch & Dhuhr Prayers:
The Dhuhr & Food Break period is an opportunity for students to pray Dhuhr, eat and interact with one another outside of the classroom setting. Rules that apply during this period are:
(1) Students should stay in rooms they are told to stay in unless they have received explicit permission of either Teachers or Office Staff. Students are not to leave school premises until 2pm.
(2) Students & Staff are expected to be courteous and respectful (as explained above).
(3) The noise level of students’ conversations should be low. Students are not to become disruptive during this time.
(4) Students should respect school property and should not damage any school property (e.g. desks, chairs, tables, walls, games, posters, books, tv/vcrm, etc.)
(5) Students should have respect of school facilities such as bathrooms, water fountain, coffee stand, etc.
(6) The Saturday School premises are the responsibility of both the Teachers and Students. As such, students should help clean up after any food or snack activities
Parents can assist teachers by:
(1) Ensuring that students respect the concept of Masjid property
(2) Coaching students to clean up after Food Breaks
(3) Preventing misuse or abuse of facilities such as bathrooms, water fountains, chairs, tables, etc.
(4) Preventing youth from leaving the premises during the Break without authorized supervision
(5) Asking students to listen to Teachers and Office Staff when it is asked of them

Safety & Security
Safety and Security are collective concerns for parents/guardians and the ADAMS staff. The assistance and cooperation of Parents'/Guardians’ is crucial for the success of this policy. Any parent/guardian who notices any activities that are unsafe around the school are encouraged to bring it to the attention of the Director or Office Staff promptly. The Director and Office Staff will address all concerns, and hopes that their actions will be reinforced by the YEP Parents. Input of Parents/Guardians and suggestions are welcome.
(1) Youth are to be brought to school premises by parents/guardian at the beginning of class. Parents/Guardians should never drop off students outside the main door or in the parking lot.
(2) Youth are to be picked up promptly at the end of day at 2pm from the open area by the parents/guardian.
(3) Other than school sponsored events no students will be allowed to leave the ADAMS building premises for any reason. Any class or group allowed to leave the premises with permission from the Director must have a teacher with them.
(4) Youth are not allowed to bring any devices to the school that are considered unsafe or unsuitable for a school environment.
(5) Before or after school hours, playing in the Parking Lot is at the parents/guardians discretion. Saturday School discourages any unsafe activities inside or outside the school. ADAMS staff will not be responsible for such activities.
Dress Code
Saturday school is part of the ADAMS Masjid so Students and Teachers' are expected to dress according to the ADAMS Dress code policy.
Dress Code for Males: Pants and shirts are required to be worn at all times. No shorts above the knees, no see-through or tight clothing is permitted.
Dress Code for Females: Loose fitting clothing and a hijab (or head-covering) must be worn by female teachers and students at all times during school hours. This means that no short sleeve shirts, no see-through or tight clothing are permitted.
YEP will have Hijabs, Jilbabs, Abayahs, and Thobes on hand for those
students that are not dressed according to the above guidelines. As
part of YEP Policy, students will not be permitted to take part in
class activities if they are in violation of the dress code.
