Some curriculum modules may be augmented with school sponsored field trips. In order to maximize the benefits of a field trip, and to ensure safety and discipline, all field trips are to be planned well in advance with the approval of Office Staff.  Impromptu trips are not acceptable. A typical field trip will be subject to the following requirements:

(1)    At least two weeks in advance, the teacher must submit a “Field Trip Description” that will cover the following information:
    a.    The Niyyah (Intention):  This refers to a stated purpose that is relevant to the module being augmented, with specific learning objectives drawn from the curriculum.  The Niyyah should be clear to both parents/guardians, volunteers & students

    b.    Logistics
        i.    The Date, Start Time and End Time of the trip
        ii.    Funding & other resources needed from YEP
        iii.    Transportation needs
        iv.    Emergency Procedures (e.g. what to do, and who to contact in case of an emergency)
        v.    Copy of the cover letter to parents that will accompany the standard field trip permission slips available in the office

(2)    Names and phone numbers of chaperons / volunteers involved must be provided at least two weeks in advance to the Office Staff

(3)    Parents' must sign and return field trip permission slips in advance of the trip. Copies of this consent must be provided to Office Staff either before or immediately upon return from the fieldtrip for record-keeping purposes.

(4)    It is hoped that YEP will be able to subsidize minor expenses related with field trips.  However, it is quite likely that an additional fee may need to be charged to cover the expenses of the field trip.

(5)    Parents/Guardians are highly encouraged to volunteer/participate with field trips (when requested).
